This double storey L-shaped modest house sits well in its triangular plot as an modern extension to the existing Victorian house.
The house celebrates light, with roof lights in the stairs with French doors and high level ventilators to allow in natural light in almost all the rooms. The façade is a palette of various materials like natural stone ,color and stainless steel, aluminium and timber. The buttress effect on the columns break the monotony of the horizontal massing. The balconies on the upper floors looks out into appealing bbq area with pool.
The staircase being the essential transition space it became necessary to have best possible lighting in this area to make its function easier especially when it does not have direct light from the windows. Light used in this area contributes to bringing out the dimensional compositions and the spatial continuity to these spaces and its also emphasizes the textures, color palettes, quality and diversity of materials and the solution of specific details that accompany them.
